The Ultra-Spill Diaper from Ultratech is a great place to start. Folded down to 16" x 22", this three-layer blanket is compact enough to fit in the cab of a truck, construction equipment or machinery and, unfolded, provides nearly 35 square feet of coverage to contain most leaks before they get out of hand. The combined absorbent material can take up eight gallons of fluid, and an outer 4 ml plastic barrier prevents any contaminants from leaching through the bottom.
By design, the top layer will take care of such chemicals as engine coolant and acids, and the thick middle, oil-only layer will absorb all hydrocarbons, including oil, gas and diesel. Weighing less than 5 lbs., the blanket measures 7.3 L x 4.8 W and can be laid flat out on the ground. For better control, the mat can also be affixed directly to the leaking equipment or tank with four attached bungee clips. Stitched and reinforced seams prevent the layers from separating.
